Overview
Children are introduced to the concept of energy conversion, and how energy transfers from one form to another. They learn that energy transfers can take the form of force, electricity, light, heat and sound.
General objectives
After this lesson, child will be able to:
- Describe the different types of energy and give examples from everyday life.
- Describe how energy can change from one form of energy into another.
- Explain conservation of energy in real-life systems.
- Design a system with energy sources, changers, and users and describe how energy flows and changes one form of energy into another.
Experiments
Children explore the transfer of energy from place to place and form to form. They observe examples of energy transfer between light, heat, electrical, motion, and sound. Children have the opportunity to apply their understanding of energy transfer by building related Projects.
